Get Involved

Remember, we’re happy for anybody to write anything about anywhere.

How do I contribute?

We have a bunch of different ways you can share your worldwide discoveries. Please note that all written contributions  should be in Microsoft Word and all photos  in jpg format - thanks.

See below for how to send us stuff.

My Trip in 1 Photo

Send us the single photo which sums up your whole trip and tell us why in a short paragraph.

Traveller’s Tales

In anything from just a paragraph to 1000 words tell us a story from your travels. Is it a best or worst ever travel experience? Does it involve an unusual destination, forgetting something or transport issues? Does it feature a memorable encounter with local people or wildlife? Is it funny, poignant, or just plain weird? Share it with everyone, with a relevant photo if you can.

Gallery

Send us a favourite picture taken on your travels. It can be of a view, people, animals, something arty, something funny, anything really that you think others will enjoy and perhaps be inspired by to follow in your footsteps. You don't need to be a pro with a flash camera or fancy phone, holiday snaps are fine.

Features

Write us an in-depth feature about a trip you’ve taken. It can be about any kind of journey to anywhere in the world, but please keep it under 2500 words (that’s not as long as you might think, just a slow 10 minute read). Did this place live to your pre-trip expectations? Did you discover anything unexpected? What did you love, or hate? Did you meet interesting people? If so, what did they have to say? What was different about this place from home? Would you recommend this place to readers?

Top 5….

Give us a list of 5 things that are travel related - Your favourite 5 destinations? Your 5 best ever holidays? The 5 weirdest things you've eaten abroad? The 5 celebs you would like to travel with. Tells us why too, in a sentence or two.

So, do you love a place so much that you want everyone to know about it? Give us five great reasons why we should all go there, preferably with a photo or two. Is it the scenery? The people? The food? The culture? Or is it something personal to you? What makes it so brilliant?

My Travel

From time to time Travel Write will interview celebrities and other interesting people about what floats their particular travel “boat”, their childhood holiday reminiscences and their best/worst travel experiences. We’re always open to "realistic" suggestions for whom we should feature.

Digital Postcards

Eventually we'll be on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram too so, when you’re on your travels, you'll soon be able to send us a digital postcard.

I have an idea that doesn’t fit any of these categories. Can I still contribute?

Absolutely! If you have an idea for a feature or article that doesn’t fit into an existing category then let us know and we’ll look into finding another way of adding it to the site.

How do I send you stuff?

Please submit material or any questions to our editor’s email travelwrite4@gmail.com

A small reminder that all written contributions  should be in Microsoft Word and all photos  in jpg format - thanks.

If you have a friend or relative who you think might enjoy contributing to Travel Write, tell them all about us and let’s hear their story too.

So, what’s stopping you? Tell us, how was your trip?

The boring legal stuff

As always, there are a few T’s & C’s and, as part of Travel Write’s agreement with its web host, all submitted material remains the copyright of Travel Write. However, as long as you credit us, feel free to use your Travel Write contributions to showcase your writing skills to the wider world. After all, we want to get everyone writing!

The editor reserves the right to edit material for length or content without the prior consent of contributors.

Material which, in the editor’s opinion, could be deemed racist, homophobic, sexist or otherwise potentially offensive will either be removed from a contribution, or that contribution may be rejected entirely.

Submission of material does not guarantee publication.

In all cases the editor’s decision is final.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a fee for any contributions.
